Our keepers say we’re beautiful,
we should be happy as can be.
The thing I really want to know
is, when will we be set free.
The food is small but edible.
We would like to run and play.
Our cage is just too small you see.
But still, one day, one day.
They say our fur is beautiful
and will fetch a handsome fee.
So why so harsh and cruel to us.
Please let us soon be free.
We are taken from our cages.
What can the reason be.
Perhaps now we are to have a life,
we are going to be set free.
Our death was slow and drawn out.
We died in agony.
Not one happy day on earth.
But at last our souls are free.
We are peeping over the rainbow,
to see why we had to die.
Why did they take off all our fur.
What was the reason why?
Now we see the reason.
Explain to us we pray.
Did we have to die in agony
for women as ugly as they.

As you could have read a couple of days earlier, we do a fundraising event every fortnight at Malia Park hotel and while talking with the regular as well as new guest, we hear how much they appreciate that the hotel obviously cares for the cats living on the premises. We agree totally and explain that only in this way, in cooperation, CAWG can set up a cat cafe at an establishment such as a hotel.
Last week it was time again that we neutered some of the cats at our cat cafe in Malia Park Hotel. When driving early morning to the hotel this shot was made and a quote of Dr. McDreamy (Grey’s Anatomy) crossed my mind: “It is a beautiful day to save lives!”.
And so we started the long day of trapping cats, taking them to the vet, getting them neutered, taking them back, when recovered well from anaesthetic being released again at the hotel…
Again it was worth all the effort we put in!!! The quality of life for these cats will definitely increase and the presence and following suffering of unwanted kittens is significantly decreased!!!

Every fortnight the Malia Park Hotel is so kind to give CAWG space to have a fundraise & awareness event in the lobby of the hotel. For once this season we joined forces with Cretan Donkey Care as Diana was here on holiday.
CAWG as always had lots of information, some books and jewellery for “sale”. Cretan Donkey Care had handmade soap chains, donkey shaped soaps, donkey keyrings, donkey telephone accessories etc for “sale”.
It was a successful evening for both organisations and they would like to use this opportunity to say a big THANK YOU to the Malia Park hotel for offering us this chance to raise awareness and for their great hospitality!!!
