Δελφίνια: Εκπαίδευση ή εκμετάλλευση;

Green energy….

Green energy not always green for environment…

Unfortunately we cannot inform you about his situation now….

A big bird…

Rescued by a Greek man at the end of our equine outreach and taken care of by Margaret, this young vulture was very lucky.

The Natural History museum official came to tag him and was present during the release.

Unfortunately, even though he had only stayed in human presence for a few days, the vulture was too tame. He had to be caught again and sent to EKPAZ in Aegina. There he will be between con-specifics and be prepared to return to the wild asap!

Malia bamboo on fire!! Help!

Please look out for them!!!

Last night there was a big fire in Malia near the archeological site, the bamboo field was on fire!

Some CAWG volunteers went over to give a helping hand in case any animals needed rescuing but they were ‘kindly’ told that their help wasn’t appreciated…

As we know that (amongst others) tortoises live in this area, we would like to ask any of you who might find one wandering around, maybe even injured, to contact Margaret (our wildlife specialist): +30-6944389567 or the Aquaworld in Hersonissos +30-2897029125

When they have completely recovered from their horrible ordeal they will be released into the wild again.

Please do not think that it would be nice to keep one as a pet as they are wildlife who need to live in the wild!!!

Buzzzz-ard News!

News from Margaret:

I received a call from a member of staff at the Makrialos Municipality saying they had found an injured bird so I went over to collect it. The initial examination did not reveal any injuries but after a few days I noticed that it did not stand properly. It was taken to the vet where it was         X rayed and found to have a broken pelvis and possible broken upper leg. I considered having it euthanased, but decided to give it a chance as generally it was doing well and in any case the breaks would be healing. It is now feeding well and at the moment is in a large cage where it can move around easily. Within the next week I shall be putting it into the aviary where it can start to fly and when I am satisfied it has recovered fully I will take it back to Makrialos where it will be released.
