Subsidised Neutering Project

Neutering is the most responsible and safest thing to do to prevent unwanted pups being born – pups are quite a handful and often difficult to find homes for (even the Pedigree puppies!). Neutering is a humane way to reduce the stray dog population*, preventing thousands of unwanted puppies being born each year, that may be cruelly abandoned or needlessly destroyed. Neutering also brings health, and in some cases, behavioural benefits to your dog.

Call us now on 6993 023 797 to find out more information and how you can benefit from the neutering subsidy.

Thank you to our generous donour for funding this project since 2006, WSPA for their guidance, our volunteers for their help and Guru Advertising.

* Population Surveys are being carried out 3 times per year in Malia & Stalis as part of the monitoring and evaluation process of the Subsidised Neutering Project.

  1. Dear Maria,
I’m afraid the project is only for dogs at the moment as high vet costs do not allow us to extend yet to other species.
For more information (Greek/English speaker) you can call Sally 6993 023797. The project allows you to neuter your dog for 75 EUR per male and 125 EUR per female. This price includes free microchip and registration according to Law 3170/03.
Please let us know if you need more help or advice!
    Kindest regards,

  2. Good afternoon and a very Happy New Year with many Happy animals…

How could I get more information about the offer of 50% of the cost free micro chipping? I have a dog in Heraklion and wish to put the chip…. Furthermore, is this only for dogs? Or cats are in this programm as well?

Thank you very much in advance for your time.

    My best wishes

  3. Dear Hanna,

  4. Dear Sirs, Madame,

After a one week stay at the Sirios Village Hotel, we are about to leave. Unfortunately, there is in the hotel a cat with her 5 young kittens. For some reasons, the hotel has tried to get rid (or at least put aside) 4 of the kittens, leaving the mum and one kitten alone by a corner of the pool area. Many people here got involved and the little familly is now together again. Our concern is that the hotel staff tries again to separate the familly. Is there anything that you could do to give a save future to these kutties?!

Thank you very much in advance.
